The proposed RiverArc Project will serve as a gateway to the Sacramento River. Using an existing water diversion facility, Sacramento-area water agencies will move surplus Sacramento River water inland. A new pipeline will carry this water to a new water treatment plant where it will be treated for residential and commercial use.
A mix of existing and new pipelines will distribute the water to most of the Sacramento and West Placer region north of the American River all the way to Granite Bay. Along the way, the system will also integrate groundwater and American River supplies for agencies to share across the region.
